Picture
Second graders.......are you ready to step into a new role and help others?

You have a very important job ahead of you.  An exciting adventure that will allow you to help yourselves, your family, your friends, your teachers, and others!

During science for the next two weeks, you are going to learn more about nutrition (eating right), fitness (exercise), and making healthy choices for a healthier lifestyle.  With this new knowledge of nutrition news and fitness facts, you will be "spreading the word" to your classmates, parents, teachers, the principal and school staff, and other students in our school.

Throughout this WebQuest project you will be using what you have learned previously in life sciences (plants, vegetables, fruits, nutrition, and energy from food and water), social studies (food--origin and packaging; obtaining and communicating information; solving problems), art (creative expression and communication), English language arts (sentence structure, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation), and technology (incorporating the internet and other software programs we have utilized this year such as Movie Maker, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher).

There are many available resources with information about healthy foods, daily nutritional needs, food packaging labels, healthy grocery lists, grocery shopping, and effective fitness (exercise) programs.  I have compiled just a list of resources for you!  These can be found under the "Resources" tab (link) above.

You'll notice there are tabs (links) for the various pages available in this WebQuest.  These tabs are located at the top of each page and will allow you to move throughout the WebQuest, page by page, enabling you to access the necessary information to complete this assignment.  The tabs (in order of how the pages are located within this WebQuest) are "Introduction" (this page you are currently reading), "Tasks" (tells about the assignment and the steps involved), "Process" (explains how to accomplish the assignment, task by task, by providing more details), "Resources" (lists the Internet links to be used to complete this assignment), and "Evaluation" (the rubric details how you will be evaluated and how you will evaluate your partner).  If you simply would like to advance to the next page in the WebQuest, you may click on "Next" which is located at the end of each page.

We should not waste any more time.
You have many people who are counting on you!

Let's get started.
